Alexander Zesati, LMFT

The approach to psychotherapy I practice has been deeply shaped by more than two decades of immersion within Eastern traditions (Buddhist and yogic), in conjunction with contemporary Western psychology. I honor all faiths and wisdom paths. This year marks twenty four years of experience in the field of counseling and transformational work. I am passionate about helping individuals and couples create meaningful, intimate and awake lives by working through challenging life situations, relationship difficulties, emotional distress and trauma.

My orientation is informed by the intersection of mindfulness, relational and somatically based approaches to therapy. However, my ongoing source of growth, inspiration and training is in my role as husband and father of twins (the cauldron of transformation is the stuff of everyday life!)

My academic training began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Then, I earned a Masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. I hold a Marriage and Family Therapy License and am fully bilingual & bi-cultural (in English & Spanish).

Also, I completed the highest level of training for the Hakomi Method (level III). Hakomi is a body-mind approach that incorporates mindfulness practices to access core emotions and unconscious beliefs. It is a powerful method of assisted self discovery that leads to psychological integration. I am also trained in EMDR, which I have successfully used to treat trauma and anxiety. I am also trained and informed in the theoretical framework of AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy).
